it’s been a while

Ravensheugh Sands, 10 January

It’s been a while since I’ve posted here, and I didn’t intend to be away from this space. I started this year with plans for what I wanted to write – specifically a book that I started last year, a project that’s been in my mind for so long, but I just needed to find the right way to begin. (More on this in a later post!)

But 2026 had a different plan for these first few months of the year as I’ve been dealing with an inflammatory condition that’s kept me away from my desk since December. I’m still working, still writing, albeit it much less than I was planning (and much less than I need to be). I’ve leaned into Instagram more, as I can edit photos and work on reels while curled up on the sofa. But – and I never imagined saying this – I really miss spending hours sitting at my desk, absorbed in something. Focused without distraction. My brain needs this and I long to get back to it.

So, expect some shorter posts heading this way. We’ve had so many great walks in the last three months, and I don’t want those photos and experiences to simply be sitting in Lightroom, so while I might be sharing less words, I hope you can enjoy the landscapes and the seascapes and the constantly shifting coastal light.

Only a few photos here, but I wanted to share them anyway. This was a frozen low tide walk with a mostly empty beach at Ravensheugh, and I was enjoying this atmospheric sky.
